Wicklow TD Andrew Doyle has announced his intentions to seek the Fine Gael nomination to contest the upcoming European Elections in Ireland South.
The Junior minister for agriculture, with responsibility for Food, Forestry and Horticulture expressed that the importance that all sections of Irish society are represented effectively at European level, especially in the lead up to Brexit.
“Brexit has demonstrated to everyone the fundamental role that the European project plays on this island and it’s vital that all sections of Irish society are well represented effectively at European level,” said Doyle.
Doyle believes the work he has been involved in as Minister of State in preparing Ireland for Brexit has given him the necessary experience to make an impact at European level.
The Wicklow TD will be hoping to secure his nomination at Fine Gael’s Ireland South constituency selection convention next Sunday in Clonmel, Tipperary.
