Making Waves’ first production ‘Juliet of Verona’ to play this weekend

By Alex Doyle

Wicklow’s newest theatre group Making Waves have announced their first production.

The youth group, which was founded last year by Ciarán Coogan and Aideen Walton, will put on their first production called Juliet of Verona.

Premiering from 22-24 February 2019 at the Whale Theatre in Greystones, Juliet of Verona is a new adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet, written by Ciarán Coogan.

Tickets cost €10 and are available to purchase from the Whale Theatre’s website.

“Funny, lively, lyrical and accessible, this 60-minute play brings a new dimension and an unexpected twist to this classic tale of two families at war and forbidden love, and it promises to be a wonderful evening of theatre for all,” Making Waves teased.

Making Waves is sponsored by Ross McParland, Greystones Studios and the Whale Theatre –  and membership is open to youngsters aged between 14-18, with the group meeting every Sunday afternoon in Greystones Studios.
