Storm Erik is on the way

It looks like we could be set for a very windy Friday according to MET Eireann.

A Status Yellow Wind Warning was issued this morning for the whole country.

Southwest to west winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of 80 to 110 km/h. Along exposed Atlantic coasts these values may be exceeded for a while and with very high seas this will give the risk of coastal flooding.

People are reminded to keep away from coastal cliffs and piers.

Motorists are being urged to use caution and be mindful of falling trees and debris.
