Sinn Féin representative and local election candidate for Wicklow East Muireann Dalton has expressed serious concerns about the failure to provide public facilities and infrastructure in Newtownmountkennedy, which is Ireland’s fastest growing village.
Dalton stated “While it’s absolutely wonderful to see houses getting built and our beautiful village expanding, it’s very concerning that the community facilities that were promised for Newtown haven’t happened.”
“There is no real plan on the table to show what the actual time frame for work or what facilities are going to be provided. The people of Newtown are angry and can’t afford to sit around waiting indefinitely for the critically important community infrastructure. Members of the community and I have started a petition calling on Wicklow to ensure that the needs of the community are meet and a clear timeframe is put in place, we as a community are not going to stand ideally by ,we want what we were promised.”
“The community has been promised playing pitches, Public Park, community rooms, to name a few things, this should all be done in tandem with the construction of badly needed housing, not at some distant point in the future, if ever.”
