Work is currently under way to make a remembrance quilt in memory of babies in the area who died at or around the time of birth. If you would like to add a remembrance square on the quilt to remember your baby, please drop by to see Mary and Margaret at 7 pm on Tuesday evening April 2nd to Bali Hai, Jim’s Way (formerly Nursery Way), Aughrim for more information.
Chair yoga continues on Tuesday at 10.30am. Our committee meeting takes place this coming Thursday March 28th at the earlier time of 10.15am. Our speaker for Tuesday April 2nd is Caroline Buck who will talk to us about herbs and their uses.
The numbers 6, 16, 18 and 19 drawn in this weeks Aughrim Sports club lotto March 18th. The jackpot was not won. There was one match three winner, Breda Murphy, Tullow, c/o Ann O’Shea. The jackpot is €1650.
Family Cross Sponsored Walk
The year of the family cross committee are holding a sponsored walk on Sunday April 14th. The walk will start at 2 pm. at the Pavilion on Redna Road and proceed along Jim’s Way and back to the Pavilion, where tea and light refreshments will be served. Sponsorship cards are available from committee chairman Kit Keogh. All support/sponsorship would be greatly appreciated.
Aughrim set dancers are having a charity ceili in memory of Margarete, in the community hall Aughrim (beside Byrnes/Londis) on Sunday April 7th. from 3-6 pm. Admission (inc.refreshments) is €10. There will be a raffle on the evening. All proceeds are in aid of Wicklow Hospice. Dancers and non dancers are all welcome for a great evening.
Next weekend sees three of our county events taking place, Saturday March 30th Swimming in Arklow. Check in from 2.30 for a 3pm start. Saturday March 30th U14 Table Quiz in Aughrim NS. Check in from 7.30 for a 8pm start.
The County Wicklow Cross Country takes place on Sunday March 31st in Avondale Park with registration a 10.30am with a 11.00am start. It is for all children attending U6 to U-16. Please let your coach and I Fiona Shannon know at athletics training that you are interested in entering as we need to register every child on line. There is a €3 entry fee per child to be given to a coach that morning which will be given to county and every child receives a ticket and they bring it to their race.
Cross Country /Mixed distances Under 6.200m, under 8’s 300m, under 10’s 400m, under 12’s 600m, under 13’s 1200m, under 14’s 800m, under 16’s 1600m, then the marathon 2km is on the March 31st in Avondale too.
