Carnew notes week March 11th


The winner of last weeks Split the Pot  of Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew was won by Shem Levingstone  who won €203. Congratulations.

The sellers prize was won by Karen O’Brien who won a €10 voucher for Victors and the lucky dip winner was Ciara Edwards.

Ballyellis National School “Split the Pot”

Friday 8th  March  2019   winners of  “Split the Pot” are  – Donnachadh and Fiachra Kearney, Ballycadden Lane, Bolinrush, Bunclody  winning €141. 

We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Mass in Askamore Church.. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.



Ballyellis National School Enrolment Forms for September 2019

Enrolment forms are now available for those wishing to enrol in September 2019.

If you know of anyone wishing to have a child enrolled in Ballyellis please inform them that these forms are now available. Please contact the office on 053 9426159

A series of 5  Gardening for Biodiversity evening classes continue on Wednesday evenings in Carnew Training & Development Centre. Wednesday 13thGardening For Pollinators and Wednesday 20thCreating and Managing Wildflower Areas. Time 7.30 – 9pm. €5 each or €20 for all 5. Contact Sarah 087-4199417 for more details.



The following are the walks for Tinahely walking club

Mar 17: Mangans Loop, Level B, 8km, 2hrs. Meet Tinahely GAA car park 10am

Mar 24: Lugduff-Spinc, Level B, 14km, 4.5hrs. Meet Tinahely 9.15amor Glendalough (upper car park) 9.45am.


As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink.


Carnew are holding their St Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday 17th March at 1 pm, entry forms available from Carnew Training and Development Centre, Victor Young’s, Michael Kinsella (Kinsella Estates), Mick Kelly, (Candys), Gavin Nolan ( South East Security). Lorna Doran McEvoy (Scoil Aodan Naofa), entries must be in by Thursday 14th March.



The next bingo is on Sunday 31st March at 2.30pm in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew all welcome.



Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were Lucky dips were Katie Wafer, c/o Maurice. Michael O’Sullivan. Shauna Keogh. Paul Whelan c/o W. Collins. The next draw is Tuesday 19th March in The Lodge and the jackpot is €4,200. Tickets on sale from club members or local shops, your support is greatly appreciated.



The Gap Vintage club are holding their annual car and tractor run on Sunday 24th March, in aid of Talk to Tom. Meeting at the Gap pub Ballythomas for registration between 11.30 – 12.00, run starts at 12.30, no registration fee, donation on the day. Soup and sandwiches served on return, spot prizes on the day, all welcome.
