The Hollywood Community Forum expressed their appreciation to the outgoing Chairman Councillor Jim Ruttle for all his wonderful contribution in guiding tthe forum through its informative years. Cllr Ruttle stated, he was delighted to have supported the forum, the associated groups and the people of Hollywood.
He also stated; the forum had an enormous amount of engagement with the County Council, Co Wicklow Partnership and Rural Recreation regarding the Hollywood Footpath, St Kevin’s Way, and the reduction of the speed limit on the N81. All of these projects are in an advanced stage of progress and the forum is very optimist regarding the outcomes.
Following on from the very positive feedback on The Hollywood Community Directory it was proposed it should be updated and reprinted later on in the year. The community of Hollywood has attracted a number of new families and business who would benefit from this directory. Notice will be publicized if you would like to be included in the directory.
The Forum is currently involved with the development of the St Kevin’s Way Trail. St Kevin’s Way is a unique pilgrim path which requires improvement and maintenance work to enhance the route to Glendalough. The Hollywood forum was teamed up with the Friends of St Kevin’s Way and the Co Wicklow Partnership rural recreation office Bryan Fennel to progress matters. We are delighted that Bryan’s application has been successful and work will commence this summer.
Hollywood Footpath and N81 update. Our application for the ‘Town and Village Renewal Grant’ was successful last year we received €29, 757. The Forum submission focused on the need to link the footpath from the village to Daly’s garage/shop. This is an ongoing project at the moment.
Members of the Hollywood Community Forum attended the following meetings during the year: Public Participation Network, these meetings are designed to encourage groups to actively give their voice to the future planning in Wicklow, training in grant applications and networking with over 200 groups and organization in Wicklow. The Uplands Committee AGM, The friends of the St. Kevin’s Way, Co Wicklow Tourism AGM, The Cultural Renewal Event, The Vision for Community Wellbeing Strategy, Joint Policing Committee, Tackling Rural Crime Sub-committee and Wicklow County Council Meetings. When representing the community we tried to convey the views, needs and concerns noted in Hollywood.
The Forum has maintained a positive and constructive presence county wide. We are recognized as an umbrella group for the Hollywood community, this is based on our ethics and enthusiasm at these meeting to promote Hollywood. We also have been contacted by several local and countywide groups over the year to support them in their project.
We are delighted to meet any group in Hollywood who might need guidance and assistance in seeking information, grants and filling out applications. We also have a printer which we will make available to any group wishing to print out applications etc free of charge.
The schedule of forum meetings will take place on a bi-monthly base. They will be held at 8pm in the Hollywood Community Centre on the second Monday of the month. The schedule is as follows:
