Wicklow Golf Club free lessons a hit on International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day brought with it a plethora of celebrations throughout the country last Friday, but Wicklow Golf Club had a very different kind of celebration in mind.

A sport that was historically infamous for excluding women has seen a reformation in the last few decades and has created some of the best sportspeople in the world such as Karrie Webb and Michelle Wie.

To honour this pivotal change in attitudes, Wicklow Golf Club offered free golfing lessons to women on Friday to celebrate International Women’s Day and encourage them to take up a set of clubs and get on the green.

The lessons were delivered by Wicklow Golf Club’s PGA Head Professional, Louise D’Arcy, and saw newcomers and novices alike join together to explore the sport of golf and make some new golfing buddies while doing so.
