Wicklow Tidy Towns are holding a public meeting on Wednesday 6 th March 2019 at 8pm in the Pastoral Centre, Wicklow Town.
The group are inviting all energy users to come along – householders, businesses, industries, sports clubs, educational establishments, public bodies and all interested parties.
The meeting will launch a Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) for Wicklow Town and the surrounding area.
The aim of an SEC is to get as many people as possible in the community to work together to develop a sustainable energy system for the area by reducing the amount of energy consumed, by using
renewable energy where feasible and, as a result, reduce the carbon footprint of the town.
The SEC will have supports from Government and Public Bodies, will network with other SECs in the country and could, potentially, generate local jobs. The SEC, once up and running, will provide advice on energy efficiency, help with applying for grants and obtaining suitable contractors.
