Aughrim notes week April 29th

GAA News

Following on from our win against Enniskerry last week, our adult football team played St. Pats away on Saturday last and despite falling behind to an early goal we got ourselves back into contention in the second half but lost out by two points in a close fought encounter.       The club is busy fund raising for to send both our Feile teams hurling and football to the All Ireland Feile finals which are being held in June. A number of fund raising events are being organised ,one of which is a coffee morning in aid of the Luke O’ Toole’s hurling Feile team in Murphy’s hotel on Friday May 10th.  Please come along and support this event.

Family Fun Run/Walk

Aughrim GAA and Luke O Toole’s U14 Feile teams are holding a family fun run/walk on Sunday May 19th at 4pm along the beautiful Ciaran Shannon walk. It starts and finishes at the Aughrim sports complex where there will be refreshments served after. Entry fee is adults €5 and children €3. All support for this great bunch of lads will be very much appreciated.

Yoga Classes with Yvonne (mixed level)

New Wednesday Evening 6 wk course starting on May 1st. €60 for 6 week course in the Sports complex.
Classes continue on Monday Mornings 9.30-10.45am. Drop in rate €13.

Vintage Tractor & Car Run

Wicklow Vintage Club is holding their Annual Vintage Tractor & Car Run on Sunday May 12th. at 12 noon from St Kevin’s Hall Ballycoog. All are most welcome to attend and homemade refreshments will be served in the Hall afterwards.

Active Retirement

Our Spa day will take place on  May 23rd in the Brookelodge Hotel. Our speaker for May will be from The Alzheimer’s Society. We continue to meet at Phelan’s each Monday at 10.30am for a short walk followed  by coffee to discuss the weeks events. All welcome.

Lotto

The numbers: 13, 24, 25 and 27 were drawn in this weeks Aughrim Sports club lotto April 22nd. The jackpot was not won. There was no match three winner. The jackpot is €1950.

County Fleadh

This year Anne Devlin CCE will host the Wicklow County Fleadh on Saturday May 11th in the Sacred Heart National School Aughrim starting at 10am.This County Fleadh is a celebration of Traditional Music, Song, Dance and Comhrá Gaeilge, with competitions in all age groups, celebrating our national culture. Everyone is welcome to join us and enjoy the day, Admission at the Door.

Town & Country Market

A warm welcome to all at Aughrim Town & Country Market, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10am-2pm. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer.  Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes.
