West Wicklow bookshop shortlisted as ‘Children’s Bookseller of the Year UK & Ireland’

An independent bookshop in Blessington has been shortlisted as ‘Children’s Bookseller of the year 2019 UK & Ireland’.  The winner will be announced at British Book Awards gala in Grosvenor House, London on May 13th. The Blessington Bookstore is the only Irish bookshop on the shortlist of nine.

‘Reading has always been a passion of mine, and from the start of our bookshop in 2005, we have given plenty of time and space to children’s books’ said the owner, Janet Hawkins.  The Blessington Bookstore caters to all kinds of readers including reluctant readers and young adults.  ‘We have a readers panel of children aged 7 – 12 who read books for us and give their honest opinion’ explains Janet.  ‘This helps us recommend different books to those who have read everything by David Walliams!’

The Bookstore Coffeeshop does an excellent hot chocolate and freshly baked chocolate chip cookie which makes a visit to the bookshop a real treat – and not just for the children.
