Community Games

It’s been a busy few weeks. The area held their athletic finals last Monday and Long puck and ball throw last Thursday. We had a great turnout with all winners now through to Wicklow finals in Shillelagh on Saturday June 15th. Training continues every Monday with a possible extra night for relays.  Coaches will talk to children about that. Aldi National Community Games Festival.  The first Festival weekend takes place next Saturday and Sunday in UL Limerick and we are represented by 10 children participating in cross country mixed distance and handwriting. We would like to wish them all the best and to enjoy the experience. U11 and U14 Tag Rugby is continuing every week under the guidance of Barney Hynes and we hope to Uber teams taking part in Leinster in June.

Mass of the Angels

Mass of the Angels will be celebrated on Saturday June 8th at 8pm in Church of the Sacred Heart Aughrim.  This special celebration of Mass will be offered for all families in our locality who have lost a baby due to miscarriage, lost a baby around the time of birth or who have lost a child who died in infancy. Hymns during mass will be sung by the Avondale Voices Choir.  All are welcome to attend this special mass.

Ballycoog ICA

Ballycoog ICA guild is holding a fundraiser for our senior citizens party. This will take place in Ballycoog Hall on Friday May 24th at 7.30pm. We have a night of entertainment for you to enjoy. We have a choir with us Avondale Voices, sketches performed by the following Thomas Clare Avoca ICA and Ballycoog ICA. We will also be serving light refreshments, admission is €5. This promises to be a very entertaining night, so when you go out to cast your vote come along and join with us.  Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Active Retirement

Our Dawn Chorus will be on Sunday May 26th at 8am. This is a morning of music, song and poetry.  It is worth getting up early to appreciate  our local talent and of course  some breakfast afterwards. Monday walks continue, we meet at 10.30am and have coffee and a chat afterwards. All very welcome to come along.

Lotto

The numbers: 2, 19, 20 and 24 were drawn in this weeks Aughrim Sports club lotto May 13th. The jackpot was not won. Match three winners were: Richie Keegan and Pat Canavan. The jackpot is €2400.

Town & Country Market

A warm welcome to all at Aughrim Town & Country Market, Rednagh Road, every Saturday from 10am-2pm. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer.  Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes.
