Hollywood Fair 2019

The Hollywood Fair takes place this year on Saturday 10th  and Sunday 11th August.  As in previous years a Hollywood Fair book will be published to coincide with the event.   Anyone who would like to contribute an article or photographs for inclusion in this year’s book should get in touch with Johnny Glennon at 087/2373023 or email him at seanmagleannain@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Tidy Towns

We would like to thank everyone for their very generous support for our recent cake sale and raffle. Raffle results… Paul Crowe, Breda Reid, Patsy Glennon, Margo Griffin, Anne LeGrue, Anna Corrigan, Ollie Burke, Jimmy Wilson, Mary O Callaghan. Our work evenings have started, we meet at 7pm and work mornings also continue as we prepare for the judging of  the national competition, new faces are more than welcome.

Hollywood Walking and Trails Club

The Hollywood Walking and Trails Club held their first meeting this week in Tutty’s Pub Hollywood. This meeting was very well attend by enthusiastic walkers from Hollywood, Blessington and Dunlavin areas, all with various walking experience from beginners to proficient in hill walkers. Guest speakers, John O’Reilly from the Immal Walking Club and Helen Lawless Hill Walking Ireland discussed the process of setting up the walking club paying particular attention to legal structures, insurance and the responsibility of the recreational user for their own safety and that of others. Helen Lawless spoke about the health benefits of walking, the preservation of the natural environmental along with the importance of encouraging families and young people to actively participate in hill walking.  Citing contact with nature can rebalance ones equilibrium in this busy world.

The new Hollywood Walking and Trails Club are holding their first walking event “Hollywood Forest Walk” on Tuesday the 7th of May. Meeting point is Tutty’s Pub, the walk will starting at 7pm. Hollywood Forest Walk is an idyllic walk for the club as our first event. It 5km walk with hills of various degrees of difficulty and gradients but achievable for all levels walkers. Several members have practical experience of this walk and will be on hand to support others. Everyone is welcome to come on the Forest Walk with the club, please wear suitable clothing and footwear, also a hydrating drink; our motto is ‘be prepared’. If you have any medical issues please inform the Team Leader on the night. The newly formed Hollywood Walking and Trails Club will be hosting fortnightly walks over the summer; information on the upcoming walks will be posted in the Wicklow People Community Notes. Hollywood GAA

The Hollywood GAA lotto draw results 1st May. The number drawn were 17,18,19,20. There was no winner of the jackpot. The sellers prize went to Colin Tutty 521. The €50 winners were Luke Kelly 328, Tar Kelly 327, Shirley, Sinead, Suzanne 159. The next draw will be held in Tutty’s on Wednesday 15th May for a jackpot of €9,800. Please return all tickets by 7.30pm. Good luck to everyone and thank you to all sellers and buyers of tickets throughout the year. Your continued support is much appreciated. You can purchase lotto tickets locally from club members and local businesses and online at hollywoodgaa.com.  U7 and U9 hurling is on every Tuesday night 7 -8 pm in Hollywood for both boys and girls. Hurls and Helmets will be available for new comers.If anyone has spare helmets or hurls please bring them along. Juvenile football training for boys and girls has started back on Thursday nights 7-8pm. Everyone welcome. Club membership is now due and please remember your child is not insured to train or play unless they are registered.

Mouth guards are mandatory. New coaches are welcome and needed.

Hollywood GAA Membership is now due. Payable to Mikey Healy, Kevin Murphy a committee member or online at hollywoodgaa.com. Clothes Recycling drive for the next 5 weeks in aid of St Kevin’s Juvenile Football Club. Please drop your unwanted clothes, shoes, handbags and soft toys to the foyer of Hollywood GAA Clubhouse at training or match times. Thank you for your support.

Be alert at all  times, if in doubt contact the Guards in Blessington 045 865202. Also it is important to look out for each other in our Neighbour Hoods and be vigilant at all times.

Hollywood Bingo

Bingo takes place in the Hollywood Centre every Thursday night at 8.30pm.

We have two jackpots – €3,000 and €3,850 to play for each week.

Doctor ‘s Clinic

The Doctor’s Clinic  will be held on the first and third Thursday of each month from 9.30 -11.30am
