RACE NIGHT

A Race Night in aid of Moneystown National School is being held on Saturday,May 18th in Kavanagh ‘s Pub. Join us at 8pm for a night of fun, laughter and a bet or two!!!

CAR BOOT SALE

The Roundwood Car Boot sale returns on Sunday 26th May and every fourth Sunday of the month thereafter. Set up of stalls from 9a.m., Cars €10, Jeep/Van €15.

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The monthly dance will take place in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 17th May with music by John Flood.

ANGEL HEALING

A place of peace, relaxation, stillness and spiritual healing is what you will enjoy every Monday evenings (except bank holidays) at 7.30 in the Parish Hall Roundwood Village. For more information contact Mary 0879819420.

 

MENS SHED

The Shed continues every Tuesday between 10 and 12 in our Shed within a Shed at Pat Carr’s place in Knockraheen. The topics are wide and varied and we continue to participate in a growing list of activities.

 

MARKET

Roundwood Market continues with the usual produce and new hours. Now open every Sunday from 12 noon until 4pm. New members welcome. Contact Jacinta 0860722851

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before…. Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a good night of exercise.

TRIPS

There will be a trip to Scotland from the 26th to the 31st July for six days. Included are The Highlands of Scotland and The Orkney Isles, Perth, Thurso, Inverness, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness and Glencoe and many more places at a cost of €750 per person all in. A deposit of €200 is required as soon as possible with single supplement of €100 to Susan at 087 6273032.

A day trip to Waterford Treasurers will take place on Satuday 29th June with pick up in Roundwood at 9.15a.m with tea, scones and dinner included with a trip to 15th century wine vault and Waterford Crystal at a cost of €75 per person with all monies to be paid by 20th May.

The Westport Country 6 day break takes place from 20th to 25th October at a cost of €425. Acts performing will include Robert Mizzell, Stuary Moyles & Declan Nerny among others. MUSIC IN CALARY

On Thursday 23 May at 8 pm in Calary Church (Eircode A98 H766), Deirdre Moynihan and the RTÉ Con Tempo Quartet will perform a special concert to mark the 200th anniversary of Clara Schumann’s birth including the premiere of a new arrangement of Clara Schumann’s “6 Lieder, Op. 13” for soprano and string quartet. In addition they will play works by Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Karl Weigl’s Wartime Song Cycle. The concert is titled “Sounds Secretly Coming To Life”. Diamond Bridge Club.

Maria Magee & Rowena Brady took 1st place for North/South on Monday 29th April, 2nd Teresa Leahy & Marion Davis and 3rd Catherine McGillycuddy & Phil Power.  1st place for East/West were John Loscher  & Brid Clancy, 2nd Bridie Nolan & Catherine Halligan and 3rd Clare Sally & Pamela Byrne.

 

002 Bridge Club.

Noeleen Redmond & Margaret Bolger played their cards right on Friday 5th May to take 1st place for North/South, 2nd were Maria Magee & Judy Skates and 3rd place went to Kitty Heslin & Miriam Coyle.    1st place for East/West were Teresa Leahy & Rowena Brady, 2nd were Phil Kenna & Liz Belton and 3rd Molly Byrne & Rachel Judd.  Triona, Gaye and all the members of both clubs want to wish Nancy O Brien a very speedy recovery after her recent operation.

UNWANTED LAPTOPS

CoderDojo Roundwood are looking for any unwanted laptops for use in our local Dojo (computer club). Any laptops donated, no matter what make or age, will be wiped clean of any data thereon and will be reprogrammed to allow children who may not have access to a laptop learn a new skill in this fun environment.  Any donations will be greatly appreciated. COMPUTER CODING CLUB

CoderDojo is a global volunteer led community of free programming clubs for young people. Young people learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and explore technology. LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last weeks draw. The number drawn were 2, 16, 20 & 22 . There were six match three winners, Sally Healy, Antoinete Kerrigan, Elaine Paton, Darren Newsome, Jim Carr & Andrew Carthy  Next weeks jackpot will be €13,000.

CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m until 1pm. PERSONAL ALARMS

The Roundwood and District Community Council are registered to administer the senior alert scheme which provides grants to elderly people towards the provision of personal alarms. The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or neighbour in the event of an emergency. Raffle Prizes were won by: Martin Byrne, Tiney Shortt, Catherine Doyle, May Kenna & Anne Pierce. Next whist is on this Wednesday 8th May in The Parish Centre.
