Wicklow beaches retain their blue flag status

Four beaches in County Wicklow have retained their blue flag status.

Wicklow, Brittas Bay North and South beaches, Bray South Promenade and Greystones, retained their blue flag status by An Táisce for 2019.

The prestigious award from  An Táisce  met strict criteria on water quality, safety, and litter.

Elsewhere, Arklow South Beach has been recognised with a Green Coast Award, which means it has excellent water quality but which may be less developed and less populated than Blue Flag beaches.

A total of 88 Blue Flags have been given to 80 beaches and 8 marinas around the country this year.
