The Sports Room Wicklow Town will be hosting a week full of events, known as bike week, from Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 30.
Bike Week is a celebration and promotion of all that’s great about bikes and cycling. Held over the last week in June, this year there are a number of bike themed events taking place in Wicklow Town.
The Sports Room has themed up with Wicklow Local Sports Partnership to bring free cycling events to the community. Whether you’re looking to get back on your bike after many years or if you’re a child wanting to learn to cycle your first bike, there’s an event for you.
There will be free events and workshops in The Sports Room throughout the week.
The schedule of events for the week is as follows;
Workshop 1 – June 24th, 7.30
Learn how to change tubes, take wheels on and off quickly, fix puncture repairs.
Workshop 2 – June 26th, 7.30
How to keep your bike running smoothly.
Get Back on Your Bike – June 26, 10.30am
Join us for a spin from The Sports Room to Tinakilly for tea and scones. If you’ve a bike in the shed that hasn’t seen the light of day for a while, drop it down to The Sports Room for a free check to make sure it’s road worthy and join us for a leisurely spin to Tinakilly Hotel in Rathnew.
Launch Wicklow MTB Club, Carrick, Glenealy – June 28 – 7pm
With great MTB trails right on our doorstep, Wicklow MTB Club is an initiative of local mountain biking parents to give mountain bikers an opportunity to hook up with other riders, get to learn the trails, train for races and make new friends. It was initially set up primarily for kids but caters for all ages as we are finding many parents want to join their kids on the trails but have had no mtb experience to date. We’re launching this new club on Friday 28th June – bring your bike & helmet, find out more about joining, test the trails and weather permitting, we’ll have a free BBQ too.
Family Fun Cycle – June 30 – The Sports Room 11am
Join us for a family 5k cycle from The Sports Room. Afterwards, pop over to The Taste of Wicklow. The Sports Room will mind your bikes for you while you sample some of the treats Wicklow has to offer.
