Delay in commencement of upgrades to Greystones school criticised

A delay to the start of extension works to St. David’s Secondary School in Greystones has been met with sharp criticism in the area.

The upgrades, which were due to take place over the summer months and to be completed by the new academic year in September, have been delayed indefinitely, despite planning permission for a new sports centre, five new classrooms, a new technology room and a media room being granted by Wicklow County Council in 2016.

Wicklow Fianna Fáil TD Stephen Donnelly received new information that shows architectural planning is still at an advanced stage as the Department still identifying suitable bidders to carry out the works.
