Greystones Archeological & Historical Society|Maria Edgeworth Trail Longford

Bus leaves AIB Greystones @9:15 a.m.

Cost is €35,  to include lunch,  coach and entry fees,  payable on the coach.

Guide for the Maria Edgeworth Trail will be Matt Farrell.

The Edgeworth Family settled in the Longford area in 1619 on lands granted by James I.

Follow in the footsteps of Oliver Goldsmith,  William Wordsworth,  Sir Walter Scott.

And Oscar Wilde.

Visit the walled gardens of the Edgeworth Ancestral home,  as well as St. John’s Rectory.

Abbe Edgeworth,  confessor to Louis XVI was born at the rectory.

Light lunch of tea/coffee and sandwiches.

Followed by a visit to Corlea Trackway Centre.

The Centre interprets an Iron Age bog road,  built in 148 BC.

This road crosses the boglands of Longford,  close to the River Shannon

A very enjoyable and interesting day will be had by all !!

St. Patrick’s National School,  Greystones;  3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Wonderful annual event,  lots of roses and flowers.

Teas are served during the show.  Plants also for sale.

New Members and Exhibitors are very welcome.

All exhibits must be staged before 11.30 am on the day of the show.
