No end in sight for wet and windy weather

The unsettled wet and windy weather we have been experiencing so far this week looks set to continue, according to Met Eireann.

This current weather is a stark contrast to the six week heatwave we were experiencing this time last year, with more rain having falling at the start of June than all of last June and July.

Temperatures along the east coast on Wednesday are expected to reach highs of just 11 degrees as grey skies remain the norm across the country.

Conditions will remain cold for the time of the year and rainy along the east coast for much of Wednesday and Thursday. It will be slightly warmer in the west with slightly drier weather, but temperatures are not expected to exceed 16 degrees.

Heavy showers are expected to be commonplace for Friday and the weekend as the wet weather is expected to continue into early next week.
