ACTIVE RETIREMENT HOLIDAY

The Roundwood Active Retirement will travel to The Mount Errigal in Letterkenny for their annual holiday from the 16th to the 20th September. The cost is €310 per person sharing or €360 for single supplement. This cost covers your transport, accommodation, meals & tours for the week. Please give your names to Betty before the 1st July to secure your place.BLESSING OF GRAVESRoundwood Parish Cemetery Sunday/Pattern Sunday will take place on Sunday 21st July.  Please note the 11.30am Mass will be Celebrated in Roundwood Cemetery NOT in the Church on that particular day, weather permitting.  This Mass will be offered for all interred in the Cemetery and will include a Blessing of the Graves

WHIST RESULTS

The results of the whist are as follows:- Top Score: Catherine Doyle; Top Gent: Martin Byrne; Second Gent: Richie Cullen; Top Lady: Monica Brady; Second Lady: Molly Byrne; First Half: Mick Whelan, Second Half: Margaret Kennedy; Longest Sitting: Pat Fisher & Lowest Score: Lucy Molloy. The raffle prizes were won by Mary Pierce, Monica Brady & Jimmy Molloy. The next whist is on tonight Wednesday 3rd July in The Parish Centre.

CAR BOOT SALE

The next Roundwood Car Boot sale will be on Sunday 28th July and every fourth Sunday of the month thereafter. Set up of stalls from 9a.m., Cars €10, Jeep/Van €15.

Music in Calary

The following are the programmes for June in Calary Church (Eircode A98 H766): On Thursday 27 June, The Janet Ashe Memorial Concert: Adam Heron (piano) will perform Bach’s French Suite No. 3 in B-minor BWV 814, Schubert’s Piano Sonata No. 16 in A-minor D. 845, Albéniz’s Iberia, Cuaderno 1 and Beethoven’s Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor Op. 27 No. 2 “Moonlight”. Local artist, Jack Lawlor (piano), will play Chopin’s Nocturne in Eb major, Debussy’s Clair de Lune and Debussy’s La Fille Aux Cheveux de Lin. All concerts begin at 8 pm and tickets, which are €18 and €15 for concessions, are available from John (01) 2818146 or be emailing derekneilson@eircom.net.

The monthly dance will take place in Roundwood Parish Centre on Friday 19th July with music by Jimmy Hogan

ANGEL HEALING

HUMPTY DUMPTY

Cuidiú North Wicklow Humpty Dumpty playgroup operates each Wednesday morning, 10-11:30 in Roundwood Parish Hall, during term time. MENS SHED

Two of Roundwood Mens Shed members ‘qualified’ to represent Wicklow in the All-Ireland Go for Life games, which were held on Saturday 8 June in DCU. At our weekly SHED gathering they were welcomed home with bunting and balloons and buns. Under our Constitution, no alcoholic drink is allowed. Rumour has it that that they did not pass the drug test! They are proud holders of the Wicklow County jersey though and we in the Shed are as proud as punch of Val and Robbie. The SHED meets every Tuesday from 10 to 12 a.m. over at Pat Carr’s place in Knockraheen – just up the road from Special Ops. You will be assured of a very warm welcome if you drop in for a cuppa and a chat. 086 8650588 for further information.

SET DANCING

Our weekly set dancing sessions continue in Kavanagh’s Lounge All are always welcome – whether you have ever or never danced before…. Session starts at 8.30 til 10.30 and cost is still only €5 for a good night of exercise.

TRIPS

There will be a day trip to Waterford Treasures on Saturday 29th June with time for shopping leaving Roundwood Parish Hall at 9.30a.m and travelling via Hollywood with tea and scones in The Doman Hotel in Carlow. The evening meal will be in The Gandon in Portlaois. The cost of the trip will be €75 per person with money to be in as soon as possible to Susan 087 6273032. A pilgrimage to Our Lady’s island dwill take plac eon the Sunday 18th August leaving Roundwood Parish Hall at 10a.m. Tea, scone and evening meal and bus will cost €65 and the Westport Country six day break takes place from 20th to 25th October with Robert Mizzell, Stuart Moyles, Declan Nerny among others performing. BARN DANCE & BBQ

A date for your diary. Moneystown Barn Dance and BBQ will take place on Saturday 29th June starting at 8pm until late. Fully licensed, fabulous food & great country music provided by Paul Molloy & The Whole Hog. So look up your stetson and grab your dancing shoes & come along to this great night.

WALKING GROUP

The Roundwood Whizzers Walking Group meet every Wednesday evening at 6:50pm in the Coach House car park or at 7pm at the Upper Vartry Reservoir Dam Gates on the Newtown Road. LOTTO RESULTS

ROUNDWOOD CANCER SUPPORT

The Roundwood Cancer Support centre is now up and running and is open in the Parish Centre on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a.m until 1pm. CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

Muintir na Tíre has been allocated funding by the Department of Rural and Community Development to install Carbon Monoxide alarms in the homes of elderly and vulnerable persons. This programme is aimed at persons who do not have existing alarms and do not have the resources to install alarms themselves. The Roundwood & District Community are putting in an application under the scheme which will allow residents of the area to apply for alarms. The group can assist in installing the alarms if the need arises. The alarms are battery powered so installation is straightforward. If you are elderly, have a disability or are unemployed and do not have a carbon monoxide alarm in your home and wish to apply for one please call 086 8055040 on or before Wednesday 26th of June.
