Wicklow school to introduce gender-neutral uniform policy

St. Brigid’s National School in Greystones are to introduce a new gender-neutral uniform policy from September.

The move will allow boys wear skirts and girls wear trousers.

Toilets at the school are to be replaced with gender-neutral versions, after the student council proposed the changes.

Speaking on Morning Ireland  Tom Sherlock – Chairperson of the school’s board of management said “It was the children’s idea and the adult’s approved of it, it will be down to individual choice. The choice will be with the children.”
