Carnew notes week July 15th


Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Margaret Whelan Nee Doyle, Coolattin Road, Carnew who died recently and was buried on Monday in Tomacork Cemetery.
To the family and relatives of Canon Tobias Kinsella, Olygate and formerly of Umrigar who died during the week and was buried on Monday in Tomacork Cemetery.
The annual patrons in Carnew and Tomacork will take place on Sunday 21st July, in Carnew at 1.15 pm and Tomacork at 2pm followed by the annual field day, all donations welcome for the cake stall, bric a brac and bottle stall, please do not dispose of any rubbish or dead flowers in the grave yard or adjoining properties.
50th birthday 
Happy 50 th birthday to Sarah Behan, Shillelagh.
Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 8,15,17,25, lucky dips were Diarmuid Doran. Richard Greene, Soldier’s Bench. Niamh Collins. Tom Farrell, c/o Loby. The next draw is 22nd July in Jim Byrne’s and the jackpot is €3,000.
The following are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely walking club

July 21: Croghanmoira. Level B, 12 km, 3.5 hrs. Meet Tinahely 10 am or Drumgoff 10.30 am.

July 28: Tara Hill. Level B-, 12 km, 3.5 hrs. Meet Tinahely 9.45 am or Tara Hill Church car park 10.30 am.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink. Please check Tinahely Walking Club Facebook page for any changes to the scheduled walks.

All manner of pets can be entered, from farm animals to household pets. There are five categories including the newest and most unusual pet. So if you have something a little bit different, come and show all the other pet lovers your special friend.
People of all ages are encouraged to display their precious pets in this annual event. It’s only €3 to enter each cage with the chance to win great prizes.

Carnew and district agricultural show on Saturday 20th July in Umrigar admission 5euro children free judging starts 11am dog show 2pm bouncy castle and slide ferry wagon children’s talent competitions photography arts and crafts flowers.
Pony club games also carriage driving. Judging horse and pony classes 11 am start. Come and have a good day out.
There will be a rings night on Friday 26th July in The Corner House, Carnew at 9pm sharp, admission €5, come along for a great nights entertainment and Craic, all welcome, proceeds towards Waking Ned group for Hollywood comes to Askamore.
