Comedian Brendan Grace has passed away

The hugely popular Irish comedian Brendan Grace has died aged 68.

He passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning surrounded by his family.

He had been in hospital for the last month receiving treatment for pneumonia when it transpired that he was also suffering from cancer.

A showbusiness veteran for 50 years, Brendan Grace began his career in music before turning to comedy.

He will be best remembered for his character “Bottler” and also as  Father Fintan Stack in Father Ted.

He also had many hits in the Irish record charts.
