GROW was founded in Australia in 1957 and since spread to many other countries, including Ireland in 1969. Now celebrating 50 years in Ireland GROW has over 130 groups nationwide. The GROW 12 step program was born out of the pain and wisdom of people grappling with recovery from various forms of mental illness. From there it quickly evolved into a movement which included personal growth and prevention as well as recovery.
Many years later the organisation has a rich treasury of stories of recovery and growth told by men and women who have pioneered the way. GROW’s principal strength is the support members give each other from their own experience in matters to do with mental health. Meetings are anonymous, non-denominational, free and open to all.
