HOLLYWOOD COMES TO ASKAMORE 

Hollywood comes to Askamore “Forest Gump group” in aid of Ballyellis N.S. and Askamore Community Centre would like to thank everybody who supported the Pop up Shop in Carnew over the last couple of weeks, it was very much appreciated.

 

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Mary Walsh, Donishal on winning a Hidden Hero’s award on Monday last in Dublin presented by Mary Kennedy.

 

TINAHELY WALKING CLUB 

The following are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely Walking club on Sunday September 22nd is

 Clara Vale. Level C, 7 km, 2 hrs. Meet Tinahely 10 am or Rathdrum car park 10.30 am.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink. Please check Tinahely Walking Club Facebook page for any changes to the scheduled walks.

 

PLOUGHING 
Good luck to all those who are taking part in the All Ireland ploughing championships in Carlow this year and especially to Kevin Doran, Billy Molloy, Martin Austin, Edward Dowse, John Somers, Tommy Pierce, Leslie Hambridge and Tom Donnelly representing Wicklow, the best of luck.

 

WRITE FROM THE HEART 
There is a 8 week Introductory Course in The Healing Art of Mindful Writing , evening course starting on Wednesday 2nd October from 7.30 – 9pm or morning course starting on Thursday 3rd October 10-11.30 am in Transformations Studio, Donishal, Carnew, cost is €100, a deposit of €30 to be paid by 18th September to secure your place.

Write from the Heart – My healing art of mindful writing course  is designed to help you discover and experience the joy, peace and calm at the heart of your being. It’s a simple yet deeply profound mindful practice which is applicable in a very practical way to everyday life and how you live it. It’s also enormous fun.

Absolutely no previous writing or meditation experience required.

KNOCK PILGRIMAGE 

The annual pilgrimage to knock from Carnew is on 28th & 29th Septemberleaving Carnew Church at 7am, Gorey at 7.30am, if you are interested please contact Marie on 0539426646 or 0872323966.

 

BINGO 

The next Bingo in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew is on Sunday 22nd September , the following are 6th and 20th October, all monies raised will go towards the hall renovation fund, thanks to everyone for their support to date it is greatly appreciated.

 

CHAIR YOGA

Carnew Community Care.  8 classes from Tuesday 10th September, 10am to 11am.
This is a gentle exercise class for seniors aiming to improve flexibility, strength and mobility.  Chair yoga can also help promote balance, co-ordination and improve overall health and well-being.  €8 per class or €60 for 8. GENTLE YOGA CLASS

Carnew Community Care.  8 classes from Tuesday 10th September, 11.15amto 12.15pm.
This class comprises of gentle yoga stretching movements synchronised with the breath which promotes mindful awareness and reduces stress.  The pace is gentle and postures are modified. Gentle yoga increases flexibility and strengthens muscles and bones while improving posture. €8 per class.

COFFEE MORNING 

The annual Hospice  coffee day will be held on Thursday 19th September from 9am – 10pm in Ailish Little’s house Donishal, all welcome to come along, money raised locally stays local.

There will be a coffee morning on Friday 20th September from 9am – 2pm in the new Chillax premises beside Partners chippers, Main Street, Carnew, all proceeds towards the Back Alley play ground. All welcome to come along.

SPLIT THE POT 

The lucky winner of €251 in our Split the Pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew was Linda Gregan . The winners of the National Ploughing Championship tickets  were won by  Anne and Lucy Kennedy and  Steph and David Nolan. Congratulations. The sellers prize was won by Nicky Ryan who won a €10 voucher for Victors and the lucky dip winner was Jake House. Next draw is Friday 20th September.. Thank you for all the support.

 

Ballyellis NS – Split the Pot

Winner of “Split the Pot” on Friday 13th  September  2019    is Mairead Dee, Knocknamota  –   winning €184.   We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after Sunday  Mass in Askamore Church.. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.
