Sympathy

The death took place last week of Harry Barrett, Merginstown, Dunlavin. Harry is mourned by his wife  Hazel , son  Dave and daughter  Jenny,  daughter in law Antoinette, son in law Michael, grandchildren Amy, Sophie, Aoife, Zoe and Nadia, brother John, sisters Betty and Helen and  nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends. Harry was predeceased by his sister Amy. Funeral took place in Dunlavin on September 21st 2019. May Harry rest in peace.

 

Irelands Biggest Coffee Morning – took place in the Parish Centre on Thursday, Sept 19th. The grand total of €1,350 was raised in aid of St. Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh and the organisers would like to say a BIG thank you for your support. A list of the prize winners is available on the Church notice board.

 

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to  Betty Keogh on the death of her father Terry O ‘ Brien last week. Terry’s funeral took place in Rathvilly. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy is also extended to Ronan McParland and family on the death of his uncle Tom Flood, The Rocks , Grangecon. Tom’s funeral mass took place in Grangecon and burial took place in Moone. May Tom rest in peace.

 

The Culture Bus – will leave Dunlavin at 11am on Saturday, October 12th to travel to Glasnevin cemetery for a guided tour at 2pm. Return to Dunlavin is at 6.30pm. Please let Margaret know at 087-9693960 asap if you wish to travel as she needs to know the numbers. Thank you.

 

Dunlavin Friendship Club – will return to the Dunlavin Parish Centre from this Friday, 20th September from 3pm–5pm. New members are most welcome.

The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you. Green View Bar and Restaurant

Green View Bar and Restaurant is now open at Rathsallagh Golf Club. Opening Hours – Wednesday ad Thursday 12 noon to 8pm, Friday -Saturday 9am -9pm, Sunday 9am-7pm.  Sunday Lunch served 12 .30 to 4pm. Parties for all occasions will be catered for.

 

The Folk Group is starting back after the summer and looking for new members. They sing at 12 noon mass on the 2nd Sunday and 10am mass on the 4th Sunday of the month. There will be a singing workshop on Sat, 14th Sept to start the new term. Contact Suzanne on 087 2977794 for more information.

 

A Book Club is starting in Kilcullen Parish Centre on 20th September, running every 3rd Friday of the month. The evening book club will be held at 7.30pm for ages 20-39 and the morning book club will be held at 11am for an open age group. The aim of both is to explore the inner life through books. Youcat & Catechism Courses – Want to explore the Catholic faith with others? An information evening will be held with tea & coffee on Monday, 16th September at 7.30pm in the Dunlavin Parish Centre to explain 2 courses being run in Dunlavin and Kilcullen weekly on Monday evenings. Sponsored Climb up Lugnaquilla

A sponsored walk in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland will take place on Sunday 22nd September 2019. It is the 9th year of the walk and hopefully people will support it again this year. For more information contact Liz Gibbons on 0879670240.

 

CREATIVE DRAMA GROUP – DUNLAVIN

Creative Drama Group – 6 – 10 years old – Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow.

Creative drama encourages children to be & express themselves; develop their confidence; use their imagination; learn how to collaborate and create with others; make friends and have lots of fun.

Activities include:

Fun drama games & exercises.

Improvisation & storytelling.

Creating characters.

Movement.

Prop & puppet making.

Drawing, Painting and other making activities.

Alarms

Dunlavin and District Forum are delighted to partner with Dunlavin Friendship Club in availing of a scheme being rolled out by Muintir na Tire.

This scheme allows for the provision of carbon monoxide alarms in houses that don’t already have them. Alarms will be provided and installed free of charge with a maximum of two per household.

This Muintir na Tire programme is aimed at persons who do not have existing alarms and do not have the resources to install alarms themselves. We would particularly invite those over 65 to avail of the scheme.
