Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin has described Heatlh Minister Simon Harris as “Poor and Ineffective”.
Speaking at his party’s annual think-in in Gorey, Wexford, Martin said of the Wicklow TD “I don’t think he has been an effective Minister and I think he has been a very poor Minister on a number of fronts ”
Simon Harris hit back by saying “You have got to remember when this man sat around the cabinet table he took medical cards of thousands of people over the age of seventy. So it is quite hard and galling to take a lecture from Michael Martin in relation to this.”
The Fianna Fail leader has claimed that the Government has failed to reveal the full truth around health spending for the last three budgets.
He said this was because not enough was provided at the beginning of each year for elderly services.
