Top award for Wicklow make-up artist

Congratulations to Sarahmarie Howes from Pretty and Pampered, Wicklow Town who has taken a top award at the Make Up Salon of the Year at the  Irish Hair and Beauty Awards 2019.

Speaking after the event Sarahmarie told Wicklownews ” I am over the moon with the win, I just could not believe it when my name was called out as the winner, as they called it out I was actually grtting my make-up ready so I would not look disappointed as I never thought I would win.  I have been doing makeup on and off film, TV and fashion sets for a number of years, Pretty and Pampered started out as a mobile service four years ago and now I have a base at Befit women’s Wellness Centre at the Anchorage here in Wicklow more recently and work by appointment.

It’s a real boost for me to keep going now and with my son starting playschool this year, I am now planning to expand the business and go full time, so fingers crossed Pretty and Pampered will go from strength to strength.”

Ireland has plenty of hair and beauty paradises that make residents and visitors look their best and these awards are an exclusive celebration dedicated to them.

The awards are powered by Creative Oceanic but voted for by the public who nominated their favourite salons and go-to professionals.

The event took place on Sunday, September 1, at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin Airport and was hosted by the bestselling author and radio presenter, Andrea Hayes.

Meritorious beauticians, hairstylists, freelancers, nail technicians and barbers amongst others won a prestigious accolade in the glitzy night put on to acknowledge those who leave their customers with the best of impressions.

The awards celebrated chic and elegant salons with superstar crew of professionals that provide bespoke experiences to their clients, following the latest trends and techniques.

The competition was fierce but Pretty and Pampered was crowned winner in the makeup salon of the year category and took the trophy home.

[Id like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted me into the Irish Hair and Beauty awards I was totally shocked to even be shortlisted nevermind win and I feel very blessed to be recognised amongst such talented artists. I’ve poured my heart and soul into growing my little company and alongside raising my 3 year old son it’s been tough but moments like this make it all worth it. Id also like to thank my parents Thomas and Gael Howes for teaching me the stars are never too far to reach if you are willing to put the work in to get there.]

Charlene Young, Campaign Manager of The Hair and Beauty Awards said: “The Irish Hair and Beauty Awards 2019 are an excellent opportunity to reward those who have shown great commitment, professionalism, creativity and care for the client.

“These winners are the ones that have successfully established their presence in this competitive industry with their dedication to be the best.

“We understand that there are some amazing professionals out there, who often don’t get the recognition they deserve.

“We hope that these awards indeed provided a platform to showcase the professionals that boost our confidence and deliver services to perfection.

“We would like to congratulate all finalists and winners for their amazing achievements.”
