Gardai and the AA are warning motorists and road users to be careful on the roads as heavy rain is predicted overnight.
MET Eireann issued a Status Yellow Weather Rain Warning which came into effect at 5pm this evening and is valid until 7am on Sunday morning.
The warning was issued in Munster and eight other counties which included Wicklow.
Heavy rain at times with amounts of 25 to 35 mm possible and a risk of localised flooding.
Outbreaks of rain moving in tonight, turning heavy and persistent for a time with the risk of spot flooding. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with blustery winds developing.
TOMORROW – SUNDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER
A blustery start on Sunday with patchy rain for a time. Brighter, sunnier weather will extend from the west. The afternoon will be mainly dry and bright with a few showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with moderate to fresh northwest breezes.
