Arklow Municipal District is making plans to run the Arklow Halloween Festival for a third time following on from the huge success of last two years events.
The highlight of the Festival has been the Halloween street parade, stage event and firework display on Halloween night which attracted thousands of people.
It is a great event for Arklow town and something that the Municipal District is hoping to develop further in the future. However, it needs public support.
This year it is hoped to make the Halloween night festivities – on Thursday, 31st October – even better by having a larger street parade, staged event and firework display. The theme of the staged event will be “If You’ve Got It…Haunt It”.
People of all ages are encouraged to take part in the festivities on the night and to get into the Halloween spirit and wear some kind of fancy dress.
Business owners are encouraged to decorate their premises as the fantastic displays in the shopfront windows and the free-standing sculptures around town really contribute to the holiday atmosphere.
Arklow Municipal District is running a competition for the most original and exciting displays as a way of recognising individual efforts, community spirit and creativity. Some of the things judges will be looking for in the displays will be: overall quality of the display; original use of materials; best use of a display to advertise the business; best paintings; best details (especially the really creepy bits) and of course, the spookiest.
If any community or sports groups are interested in getting involved in the parade or for businesses to register their window displays, please email to ArklowMD@wicklowcoco.ie or phone 0402 42700.
