The community of Rathdangan are reeling after a popular mountain walk was destroyed by quad-bikes.
The walk between Slievereagh and Keadeen was destroyed over the week-end.
The Rathdangan Community Council said ” It is very sad to see the damage that has been done between Slievereagh and Keadeen by Quad and Scrambler bikes. Keadeen is a fantastic asset to our area with many local people using it regularly. It’s a great place to get out to admire the view, clear the head and let children run free.
This damage was probably done by just a few vehicles in a short space of time but it will take many years for the ground to recover. It’s unfair that so few can take from the enjoyment of so many. If you know who was involved (they’ll be the ones with the mucky bikes!), if they’re your son, your brother, your boyfriend – tell them to cop themselves on and think about others not just themselves.”
Committee member Helen Lawless demonstrated the damage that can be done with the pictures posted below.
