John Doran, TED Speaker and Media Contributor – will give a talk to parents and young people in the Imaal Hall, on Friday 18th Oct 7.30pm-8.30pm. John is also the author of the book “Ways to Well-Being” which is designed to help 15-18 year olds explore how to maintain their own sense of well-being. The talk will explore “How to thrive in a world of busy”. Both adults and teenagers are welcome.



The West Wicklow Historical Society – will be launching on-the-double on the evening of Friday 18th October.  Baltinglass Library will be the venue for two events in one.  These are the Baltinglass launch of the ‘Our Wicklow Women’ exhibition and the official launch of the WWHS’s 10th Journal. Dunlavin GAA – Dunlavin V Kilmacanogue are through the Wicklow intermediate final on Sunday, 13th Oct in Aughrim at 1.30pm. Please come along and show your support!

Trad Music Session

A trad music session takes place on the first Tuesday of every month in An Lar Cafe. Whether you play or just want to listen it is well worth popping in to it. Free of charge. Children friendly. Cosy fire. Next night will be November 5th.2019.

Trad session every Wednesday night in Burkes Pub from 9.30pm.


Fire Safety Week

To mark fire safety week the local fire brigade are willing to fit fire alarms free of charge to residents in the area . If you know anyone that would like to avail of this service please call 0879693960.

Dunlavin & District Forum News

Dunlavin & District Forum will hold a Race Night on October 18th in Burkes Bar from 9pm. Horses are €10. Contact any committee member or Antoinette on 087-6793588 & Aisling on 087-9627389. Funds are in aid of Dunlavin’s Christmas Festivities & other community projects. This is our main fundraiser & your support is greatly appreciated.

Dunlavin Flower Club – “Winter & Spring Colours” A Talk and Slide show by Grainne Larkin from Kilmacurragh Gardens will take place on Wednesday, Oct 9th at 8pm in the Jonathan Swift School Hall. All are welcome.


Dunlavin & District Forum are proud to present Hive

This project was undertaken to support employment opportunities for community members, to breathe life into our village, support environmental sustainability and stimulate our local economy. This fresh new coworking facility is ideal for anyone who works alone, remote employees, business start ups or freelancers or for example. Meeting room facilities are also available for hire.

Local man, Eddie Whelan cut the ribbon. The hardworking group who put this project together must be thanked.

Irelands Biggest Coffee Morning – took place in the Parish Centre on Thursday, Sept 19th. The grand total of €1,350 was raised in aid of St. Brigid’s Hospice, The Curragh and the organisers would like to say a BIG thank you for your support.


Sympathy is extended to Betty Keogh on the death of her father Terry O ‘ Brien last week. Terry’s funeral took place in Rathvilly. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy is also extended to Ronan McParland and family on the death of his uncle Tom Flood, The Rocks , Grangecon. Tom’s funeral mass took place in Grangecon and burial took place in Moone. May Tom rest in peace.


The Culture Bus – will leave Dunlavin at 11am on Saturday, October 12th to travel to Glasnevin cemetery for a guided tour at 2pm. Return to Dunlavin is at 6.30pm. Please let Margaret know at 087-9693960 asap if you wish to travel as she needs to know the numbers. Thank you.


Dunlavin Friendship Club – meets in Dunlavin Parish Centre every Friday, from 3pm–5pm. New members are most welcome.

The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you. Green View Bar and Restaurant

Green View Bar and Restaurant is now open at Rathsallagh Golf Club. Opening Hours – Wednesday ad Thursday 12 noon to 8pm, Friday -Saturday 9am -9pm, Sunday 9am-7pm. Sunday Lunch served 12 .30 to 4pm. Parties for all occasions will be catered for.


The Folk Group is starting back after the summer and looking for new members. They sing at 12 noon mass on the 2nd Sunday and 10am mass on the 4th Sunday of the month. There will be a singing workshop on Sat, 14th Sept to start the new term. Contact Suzanne on 087 2977794 for more information. 



A Book Club is starting in Kilcullen Parish Centre on 20th September, running every 3rd Friday of the month. The evening book club will be held at 7.30pm for ages 20-39 and the morning book club will be held at 11am for an open age group. The aim of both is to explore the inner life through books. Youcat & Catechism Courses – Want to explore the Catholic faith with others? An information evening will be held with tea & coffee on Monday, 16th September at 7.30pm in the Dunlavin Parish Centre to explain 2 courses being run in Dunlavin and Kilcullen weekly on Monday evenings. Volunteers – St Vincent De Paul urgently need volunteers in the areas of Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare to work in assistance with individuals and families for just once a week. Outreach Service

There is a new domestic violence outreach service in West Wicklow provided by Saoirse Women’s refuge in Tallaght. We can offer confidential appointments providing support to women suffering from domestic violence in the community, including Court Accompaniment. The drop in clinics areas follows: Every Monday 9:30am-11:30am Blessington Library, Every Wednesday afternoon 2:30pm-4:30pm Seomra Imaal Hall Dunlavin and Every Friday 9:30-11:30am The equestrian/The Lawlor centre Baltinglass. Dunlavin and District Forum are delighted to partner with Dunlavin Friendship Club in availing of a scheme being rolled out by Muintir na Tire.

This scheme allows for the provision of carbon monoxide alarms in houses that don’t already have them. Alarms will be provided and installed free of charge with a maximum of two per household.

This Muintir na Tire programme is aimed at persons who do not have existing alarms and do not have the resources to install alarms themselves. We would particularly invite those over 65 to avail of the scheme.

Postage Stamps

Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who can use them to fundraise. Used stamps can be dropped into the parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated stamps throughout the past year.
