Road users throughout the county are being urged to use caution on the roads throughout Thursday.
A Status Yellow Rain Warning will remain in place until 9pm tonight.
Spot flooding has been already reported on many roads in north and north west Wicklow this morning.
Motorists are being asked to slow down and keep their distance from the vehicle in front and remember to keep your lights on.
Derek McAlister of Wicklow Weather says ” Water tables are now nearing or approaching max levels across much of the country so flooding could be disruptive in some locations of east Leinster especially around high tides and near known river flood risk locations.
Forecast for today
A blustery and rather wet day with frequent showers or longer spells of rain. Heavy downpours will lead to spot flooding. Maximum temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees in fresh and gusty north or northeast winds.
