Weekend washout in store as rain and spot flooding to persist

The news doesn’t get much better on the weather front as Met Eireann has forecasted the heavy showers and spot flooding to continue over the weekend.

Rain will continue today, with eastern coastal regions being the most at risk of flooding.

Unfortunately, showers will be at their heaviest in the east of the country on Saturday.

Sunday is set to be a mixed bag with scattered showers and dry spells during the day, before the rain spreads to all areas at night.

A forecaster from Met Eireann said – “Saturday will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain, which will be heaviest over the eastern half of the country.

“Through the afternoon and evening (on Sunday), persistent rain will spread from the south and will extend to all areas on Sunday night.”
