There will be a Christmas concert in Askamore hall on Thursday 12th December with music by Stephen  Murphy, Colaiste Bhride folk group, Padraig O’Connor, local comedy act featuring Mairead Kinsella and Brendan Hayden, singer Maria Tomkins abs story teller James Doran, a night not to be missed, tickets only €10 and all proceeds towards Askamore church and the camogie club. All support is greatly appreciated.


 The following are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely Walking club on Sunday 

December 8th : Stranahely – Table Mountain. Level B, 12 km, 3.5 hrs. Meet Tinahely 10 am or Fentons 10.30 am.

December 15: Ballinamanogue. Level B, 12 km, 3.5 hrs. Meet Tinahely 10 am.

As usual, please remember to wear proper walking boots, pack full rain gear and bring adequate food & drink. Please check Tinahely Walking Club Facebook page for any changes to the scheduled walks.

Annual General Meeting on Monday 9th December 2019 at 8.30pm in Kenny’s Lounge, Corner House, Carnew.

The annual cabaret for Tomacork will be held on Friday 6th December at 9pm in Coollattin Golf club, admission €5 with a door prize, raffle, music by John Flood, all support welcome.


The next bingo in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew is on Sunday the8th and 15th December, thanks to everyone for their support today it is greatly appreciated. There is a monster raffle on the 15th December, tickets only €2 per line, prizes are 1st a Christmas hamper, 2nd Poole’s voucher, 3rd Kerry foods fresh meat hamper, 4th Kerry foods hamper, 5th George Forman, 6th bottle of whiskey, 7th sweets and biscuits, 8th cuddly toy. 


Carnew Playground Committee is bringing Santa to town on Sunday 8th December from 5-7 pm, €5 per child in Colaiste Bhride Carnew. Post your letter to Santa , get a Santa certificate, have your photograph taken, receive a gift from Santa and face painting, all welcome to come along.


The lucky winners of €244 in our Split the Pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew was Carmel Doyle.  Congratulations. The sellers prize was won by Nicky Ryan who won a €10 for Victors and the lucky dip winner was Daniel Fleming.Next draw is on Friday 6th December.  Thanks for your support.

Ballyellis NS – Split the Pot

Winner of “Split the Pot” on Friday 29th  November 2019  is Lorna Maher, Curraduff, Ferns  –   winning €162.    We thank everyone for supporting “Split the Pot”. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after Sunday  Mass in Askamore Church.. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School. Many thanks for your continued support.


Carnew GAA lotto was not won, numbers were 9,11,12,17, lucky dips were Dara Kinsella , Munny. Big four c/o Tom Culkin. PJ Travers, Tombreane. Tom Brennan, Wexford. The next draw is 9th December in Sinnott’s and the jackpot is €3,000. Tickets only €2 from any member or local shops, all support is greatly appreciated.

The GAA are holding a Christmas draw on Sunday 22nd December at 6.30pm in Sinnott’s, prizes are 1st €500 cash, 2nd a load of blocks, 3rd a drinks hamper, 4th a food hamper and other prizes, tickets €5 each from any members.

GOAL Mile – New Year’s Day 2020 in Tinahely
The 6th Tinahely GOAL Mile will take place on New Year’s Day 2020at 12 noon in Tinahely. This is a national family event open to all to help raise funds for GOAL’s work globally. The start & finish will be Murphy’s Hotel, Tinahely. Refreshments will also be served here afterwards kindly sponsored by Sam & Colin Horan.
