Defibrillator stolen in Rathnew

Gardai are investigating the theft of a AED ( Automated External Defibrillator) which was located outside the Centra Supermarket in the Merrymeeting area of the village.

The lifesaving equipment went missing overnight.

It was thought that the defibrillator may have been taken in an emergency, but it has turned out not to be the case.

Gardai are reviewing CCTV from the area.

The Wicklow First Responders Group said ” To say we are disappointed is an understatement, this vital piece of emergency equipment that can save someone’s life was purchased in community spirit with the hope it could help someone in an emergency.

To the person that did this we ask you to return it, just leave it out in a public place where we can find and return it so that it can help save someone’s life, it could be your mother, father, aunt, uncle, brother or sister that may need this one day!”

Anyone who may have information are asked to call Wicklow First Responders at 087-9495912 or Wicklow Garda Station at (0404) 67107
