Well-Dance for Seniors is the 2019 Regional Winner for Dublin and Greater Dublin in the National Lottery Good Causes Award
Dance is regarded as one of THE most effective activities to prevent and delay age-related illness—recent international research finds it helps promote balance, flexibility, stronger hearts, brighter brains and happier, healthier, longer lives—not to mention—it’s fun!!!
Over the past 5 years Dance Theatre of Ireland have been teaching an evidence-based, modern dance programme called Well-Dance for Seniors – studied and confirmed by Trinity College Dublin Occupational Therapy to improve mobility, balance, confidence and quality of life.
Dance Theatre of Ireland has recently been awarded support from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Age Friendly Initiative to offer Well-Dance
classes for older adults (ages 60+) to residents in Shankill, Ballinteer, Mount Merrion, Kilbarrack and Dun Laoghaire.
Classes starting in January! Open to all.
Dance Theatre of Ireland have been recipients of a DLR Age Friendly Recognition & Achievement Award and a DLR Arts & Culture Community Award as well as being a Social Entrepreneurs Ireland Award finalist.
This programme combines a wonderful modern dance class with GREAT music (Paul Simon, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and more) in a joyful atmosphere.
