Tai Chi &Qi Gong Classes

Tai Chi &Qi Gong Classes on Wednesday evenings 7 – 8 pm –  Beginners welcome. 

Learn gentle flowing healing movements that help to relieve stress, improve flexibility and mobility. I am delighted to offer a brand new class in Aughrim – Qi Gong (Specific ) which incorporates the beautiful Crane Method and the Taoist Yoga System  starting on Tuesday 11th February 8-9 pm.

This is a powerfully healing practice which helps to relieve stress from the nervous system and enhance the health of the whole body and develops your being.  Venue: Aughrim Sports and Leisure Centre.   The cost is €80 for a block of 8 classes.  For enquiries or to book a place call Ann Martin 087/6081219. Tidy Towns EGM

The members of the Aughrim Tidy Towns will hold an EGM on Thursday, February 20 at 8 p.m. in The Pavilion, Rednagh Road, Aughrim. The agenda of the meeting is to elect a new board and committee.
All members are requested to attend.

Community Games

It’s a new Community Games Year and we would like to start by thanking you the parents and Guardians and local schools for your continued support. Without this ongoing help and the support of the Principals and teachers, organising these events would not be possible. 

The following are some of the events that will be run over the next few weeks in the schools.  Art Competition from U-8 to U-16, Handwriting U-10 and U-12,  Table Quiz, U-14, Talent  Competition which includes Solo Music, Dance, Singing and Recitation, Group Music, Dance and Singing – U12 to U16.  As you can see from the above list the community games is not all about sport and it’s not all about winning either.

There are in fact over 40 different events in the Community Games for U16s to participate in and if you need any other information you can check out the website . 

Additional events such as Athletics, Field events, Long Puck, Swimming are run through the local clubs.  Please note that the local area athletics competition will take place on  April 27th in Aughrim Community field. We hope to have Tag Rugby and Soccer as an event too. 

The County Blitz team event takes place on Sunday March 1st in Dunlavin community school. This will host badminton chess,  basketball  indoor soccer and draughts. Debating and any other team events that are competing. please let us know your interest ASAP.  County Athletics Finals in Shillelagh on June 13th

County Cross Country in Avondale on March 29th.  The U14 County Quiz is held in Aughrim NS on March 28th The County Art. Handwriting and model making is in Dunlavin on Saturday April 18th.  The Talent county event is held in Glenealy on April 19th.  The Gymnastics County event is held in Arklow and the coordinator is Michael Kenny of Arklow Gymnastics Club. For anyone who wants to take part we can forward you his details.  Date to be confirmed.  The swimming County event takes place in Arklow on the afternoon of March 28th in Coral Leisure Centre. Please let me know interest by March 1st.

Active Retirement

Our General Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 10.30am in Aughrim Sports Complex, and new members are always welcome. We have a pottery Course starting on Monday February 24th in Aughrim Pottery, and it will continue for 6wks  until the 30th  March from 11am to 12noon.  The cost for materials -a one off payment, is approx. € 30, payable on first day. We continue to meet every Monday @ 10.30am for a walk and coffee. All very welcome.

Physical Therapist

The numbers: 8, 16, 22 and 28 were drawn in this week’s Aughrim Sports club lotto January 27th.  The jackpot was not won. There was one match winner: Johnny Dunne. The jackpot is €4650.The weekly lotto supports Aughrim Camogie Club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex. People who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

Town & Country Market

Aughrim Town and country market are back in action after the Christmas break.  The market is open from 10 – 2 in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road. Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer.  Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes. Aughrim Sports Complex

The AGM of Aughrim Community Sports and Leisure association will be held in the Aughrim Sports Complex on Thursday February 13th at 8.30 pm.
