Congratulations to Edel Kennedy, Ballisland on winning the Wicklow Sports Award for the month of November in the Arklow Bay Hotel last week.

Congratulations to James Byrne, Kilcavan on receiving a Wicklow Garda Special Achievement Award in recognition of his efforts to look after his younger brother having lost his mother when he was just nine. The three of them live on a farm and he has grown with bravery, maturity and kindness.

The YSI team from Colaiste Bhride won a Community Safety Award after they took it upon themselves to try and make Carnew a Dementia friendly place. They will now go forward to represent Wicklow in the national Garda Awards.

The event was hosted by Today’s FM Phil Cawley to celebrate the achievements of young people from 13 – 21 who have excelled through their work with the community and demonstrated great selflessness and generosity to others.

The following are the walks for the next two weeks for Tinahely Walking club on Sunday March 08th is Church Mountain. Level B, 12 km, 3.5 hrs. Meet Tinahely 10 am or Donard 10.45 am.

March 15th is  Cullentra Trail. Level C+, 8 km, 2.5 hrs. Meet Bunclody 10 am or Kiltealy 10.15 am.

Carnew are holding their St Patrick’s day parade on 17th March at 1pm, entry forms available from Carnew Training and Development Centre, Candys, Kinsella Estates and Victor Young’s.

Carnew Community group and local artists are holding an art exhibition in Roberts Garage (adjacent to St Bridget’s Hall) from Saturday 14th – Tuesday 17th March, opening times are Saturday 14th 4-7pm, Sunday 15th 10.30-3pm, Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th 11am-5pm, Admission and a complimentary cup of tea or coffee is free, a donation box will be available if anyone would like to make a donation to Carnew Community Care who are in need of funds at the moment.

Ballyellis NS – Split the Pot

Winner of “Split the Pot” on Friday 28th  February 2020 is Darren Murphy, Drummond –  winning €188.

Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any Parent and from Ashling Walsh after Sunday  Mass in Askamore Church.
