Whist Drive

A whist drive will take place on Thursday March 5th in the Jonathan Swift parish hall at 8.30pm. Top score €60. Proceeds go to upkeep of the graveyard.

Traditional Irish Music Session

Traditional Irish Music session will take place on Tuesday March  10th at 7pm. Come along and play or just listen, all welcome.

Lenten Project  Soup Lunch

This will take place in Donard Community Hall on March 15th from 11am to 2pm. It is being hosted by Donoughmore/Donard parish in aid of Focus Ireland. Donation Box in the hall.

Gaelic 4 Girls

Want to try Ladies football? Then Gaelic 4 Girls is for you. It is fun, friends and football , just for girls. Dunlavin GAA grounds Tuesdays at 6.30pm commencing March 3rd 2020.Girls between 8-12 welcome. Contact 087 4190159 for more details.

Poker Drive

A poker Classic will take place in Burkes Bar on Friday March 13th at 9pm. Entry Fee €20 . All proceeds to the Orr family Fundraiser.

Culture Bus

The Culture Bus will leave Dunlavin at 11am on Saturday March 7th to travel to Dublin to attend a matinee at 2.30pm  of The Lieutenant of Inishmore in the Gaiety Theatre. The bus will leave for return trip at 6pm. Anyone interested must purchase their own tickets. If you just want to avail of the bus to get to Dublin just contact 0879693960

Recycling

Dunlavin and District Forum are delighted to let you know that we now have our recycling bins installed – glass (brown, green and white) and cans (both food and drink). A sincere thank you must go to Dunlavin GAA Club for providing the site. The onus is on us all now to ensure these bins are used in the manner intended and for no other purpose. We hope that this will be a welcome resource for our community and help us all to recycle that little bit more.

Thank you also to Joanne and Tom in Wicklow County Council for their help and cooperation. Please use but do not abuse.

Arts Festival

Festival 2020 takes place from June 19th to June 21st. A meeting to organise events for the weekend will take place on Saturday February 29th  at 11.30 am in the Imaal Hall. Anyone wishing to get involved is invited to attend.

Sympathy – is extended to Rachel Lynch and family on the recent passing of Rachel’s mother Peggy. Peggy passed away peacefully on January 30th with her funeral taking place in Cabinteely on February 4th.

Sympathy also to Ronat Lillis on the death of her brother Brian. Brian’s funeral took place in Rochdale, England, may he rest in peace.

Lourdes Pilgrimage

West Wicklow Historical Society

In 2020 the West Wicklow Historical Society is celebrating 40 years promoting local history.  Founded in 1980, the WWHS concentrates mainly on the four western baronies of Co. Wicklow as well as adjacent areas of Carlow and Kildare.  A full line-up of events is planned for the year.  The Spring lecture programme is as follows.

Mandalas

Every Thursday morning we meet in An LAR to draw mandalas , paint tiles or create patterns .We use pencils ,paints ,markers ,compasses all under the guidance of Bernie Sheridan from Wexford.She supplies the materials . Family Carers Ireland 

Family  Carers Ireland are seeking volunteers in Dunlavin and the surrounding area to give 1 o 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their own home who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
