At a time when animal welfare is the subject of much debate, it comes as a relief to find somewhere where the animals’ yields are the result of a better quality of life.
Ballynerrin Farm offer that kind of lifestyle to their chickens, and they are repaid in Wicklow’s healthiest eggs.

Located on the Marlton Road, Ballynerrin, Co. Wicklow, Ballynerrin is a poultry farm that operates under the guiding value that kindness begets quality, and the 3,000 free-range chickens living there are evidence of this.
‘Free-range’ is a catch-all term used to describe a lifestyle afforded to chickens that involves wide and open spaces, natural feeds, and a longer, happier life. These conditions result in better eggs, and more of them, too.
Owner Lynda Douglas opened their state-of-the-art farm in 2018, owing to her experience and qualifications in the poultry and egg business.
And, since its inception, Ballynerrin eggs have become hugely popular with some of Wicklow’s top restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets including Avoca, Kelly’s Fruit & Veg, and Supervalu.
But why are Wicklow’s top eateries and supermarkets flocking to Ballynerrin for their eggs? Well, aside from using state-of-the-art technology to ensure successful yields from happy and healthy chickens – Ballynerrin offer a fresher, local alternative to ‘organic’ eggs bred from much further afield.
