Aughrim notes week March 9th

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The community of Aughrim is looking forward to St Patrick’s Day when their local parade will take place at 11 a.m. starting from Tinakilly Bridge. 

The parade is open to floats, community groups, vintage cars and vintage tractors. It will finish at the Community Field on Rednagh Road. Light refreshments will be available after the parade.  To help cover the cost of the parade, a raffle is taking place. Tickets cost €2 or 3 for 5. Tickets available from committee members and local shops.

The committee encourage the community of Aughrim to support the parade and the raffle.

Active Retirement

Our Spa Day is on Wednesday, March 25th, cost is €60, payable on the day. Our Pottery Course continues on Monday’s from 10am- 12pm. Line Dancing takes place every Friday in the Parish Hall at 11am. Anyone interested in joining our Active Retirement Group can come along to our meetings which are held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Community Sports Centre from 10.30am. New members are always very welcome.

Tai Chi &Qi Gong Classes

Tai Chi &Qi Gong Classes on Wednesday evenings 7 –8 pm Beginners welcome. Qi Gong (Specific ) Tuesday evenings 8-9 pm – which incorporates the beautiful Crane Method and the Taoist Yoga System.

Learn gentle flowing healing movements that help to relieve stress, improve flexibility and mobility. 

This is a powerfully healing practice which helps to relieve stress from the nervous system and enhance the health of the whole body and develops your being.

Venue: Aughrim Sports and Leisure Centre.   

Cost:  €80 for a block of 8 classes.

Walkathon Event

Our 24 hour Walkathon event begins this week on Friday 13th at 6pm and ends at 6pm on Saturday 14th. The event takes place in the Community field in Aughrim. This is a massive event for the club and all of your support and sponsorship is greatly appreciated. We hope to see you all there.  Well done to our Junior A football team who won their first league game on Saturday  March 7th. They beat St. Pats on a score of 3-9 to 1-9. Well done lads.

Lotto

The numbers:2, 4, 11 and 18 were drawn in this week’s Aughrim Sports club lotto March 2nd.  The jackpot was not won.

Match three winners were: David Murphy, Ballycoog, Emmet O’Sullivan, Sinead O’Loughlin and Ann O’Shea The jackpot is €5400.  The weekly lotto supports Aughrim Camogie Club, Aughrim GAA club, Aughrim Rangers Soccer club and Aughrim sports complex.

People who support the weekly lotto are lending support to the local sports clubs who are very much part of the community.

Town & Country Market

Aughrim Town and country market are back in action after the Christmas break.  The market is open from 10 – 2 in the Pavilion, Rednagh Road.

Enjoy the buzz in the Pavilion Cafe as you catch up with friends over coffee and treats. Delicious brunches and light lunches are also on offer. 

Fresh local produce available, including organic fruit and vegetables, locally produced meat, eggs, preserves and fresh home baked bread and cakes. You may even find that special gift from our craft stalls.
