The first death from the Coronavirus has been confirmed today.

The patient an elderly female from the east of the country is understood to have had underlying illness and was treated in hospital initially for respiratory problems.

Nine new cases were confirmed on Wednesday evening bring the total of cases in the Republic of Ireland to 43.
