Patrick (Paddy) TURNER Ashtown Lane, Roundwood

Turner , Patrick ( Paddy ) passed away peacefully in his own bed just as he wanted on 5th April 2020. Dad was born to a simple life in Killiskey in August 1937, and he continued a simple life until the end, never one for material possessions or needing to have more. He was happy sitting at the kitchen table doing his crosswords or picking a horse while tapping away to music and drinking one of his many cups of tea a day.

In his glory days he loved the craic , a game of darts or a sing song, if you knew him long enough you probably heard the harmonica and his dad jokes too. Easy to please, never a bad word and always a smile especially for his grandkids who he loved dearly.

To all Dads friends young and old, we hope you can remember him by playing a tune maybe Elvis singing ” Danny Boy ” or maybe the most fitting is ” The Parting Glass “, and raise a glass to wish him God speed on his final journey. We will arrange a gathering to remember Dad together at a later date.

To all who looked after Dads health in any way over the years but especially in his final weeks, Jonathan and John and the wonderful staff of Roundwood Pharmacy, the staff of Westmount Clinic especially Mary and Celine and Dr. Joe Kenna your kindness and compassion to Dad was such a comfort. Tracey and Hazel of Wicklow Palliative Care for your kindness to Dad in his final days, a heartfelt thanks to you all.

To our neighbours on the lane who in such difficult circumstances kept daily calls and texts to check on Dad and for everything over the years to help both Mam and Dad, to Kathleen and Brian, Helena and Joe, Kevin, Eliz, Ger, Aisling and Declan and the Byrne family, to Elsie and Dean and Mary and Roisin next door thank you all so much and when we get back to normal I know you will keep Mam going too, thank you to Ann and Andy byrne for everything you have done for them both over the years and to Mam’s carers Rose, Susan and Cathy, to McCrea Funeral Directors for their guidance at this sad time.
