In August 1970 the movie Zeppelin staring Michael York, Elke Sommer and Anton Diffring was being filmed in County Wicklow.
The film was set during the first world war and was the second film over a period of 4 years to be set in that era following the filming of the Blue Max.
However many may have forgotten the film itself, but many in Wicklow town will remember the awful tragedy that unfolded during filming, in which 5 people died following a collision off Wicklow bay.
Cllr Paul O’Brien said “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have old newspaper clippings, we are hoping to get as much information and local involvement to mark the occasion later in the year.”
