The impact of Covid-19 on our society has been far-reaching, and it has raised some very important questions with regards to our rights as citizens and what supports are available to us during this time of uncertainty.
Your local Citizen’s Information Centre is equipped with the knowledge to best advise you on everything from employment and income supports to housing, utilities, travel and information for older people – to name a few, and the centre is ready to address any queries you may have in a timely and efficient manner.
These centres are supported by the Citizen’s Information Board, the national agency responsible for the provision of information, advice, and advocacy to citizens on public services.
Bray Citizen’s Information Centre can advise you on the following, and in the strictest of confidence:
Employment and Income Supports: The centre can help you with the new Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment scheme, short term work supports, understanding your employment rights during the Covid-19 restrictions, and they can advise you on the enhanced Illness Benefit or Supplementary Welfare Allowance.
Mortgage, Loans, and Rent: There are various measures currently in place to support households and businesses impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, all of which can be accessed at Bray CIC (liaising with MABS).
Housing: The centre can offer you important information intended to protect tenants during Covid-19.
Utilities: Information on the measures in place to help tenants remain connected to their electrical and gas supplies during this period.
Education: Bray CIC can offer you updates on the status of the education sector in Ireland during the pandemic.
Immigration: You can access information regarding employment permits, or advice for English language students.
Travel: If you have any questions regarding the cancellation of your holiday or other related issues, or information on HSE guidelines and travelling to another country – this can be accessed at Bray CIC.
Older People: Information on supports for older people during Covid-19.
Other General Queries: All other information regarding your rights as a citizen.
Bray’s Citizens Information Centre has become the central hub for taking queries from all around the county, meaning that any calls or e-mails to the Arklow or Wicklow CICs will be automatically diverted to Bray.
While Bray CIC is available to address all of your concerns, they are not currently in a position to offer a drop-in service at this time due to covid-19 restrictions.
