Greenan Maze to open next Monday

Greenan Maze in the beautiful hills of Wicklow opens on 29th June 2020!  Only an hour south of Dublin, this pretty traditional farm has been described as a “Heritage Hotspot” and “an antidote to urban living”.  Get out of the city for the day and enjoy a family day immersed in nature and the outdoors.

Will & Anita Wheeler run this family farm and assure us that “the SAFETY of public and staff is our top priority, there will be some changes onsite…but as most of our amenities are outdoors, we are lucky to have ample space and fresh air to relax in safety”.

Farm life has been busy even in lockdown.  The big hedge maze keeps growing and stands at 7ft tall on half an acre of puzzling fun.  Will, the busy farmer, has been maintaining hedges and looks after the numerous farm animals on site.  During the Spring the new arrivals included 18 new lambs, 8 new chicks, 2 new bronze turkeys, 1 very cute new Scottish Highland calf and a litter of piglets on the way.  Will has also renovated a cool new coffee shop with rustic outdoor pavilion and refurbished craft shop interior.

There is no need to book a visit, however, in keeping with government protocols  at busy times, numbers will have to be controlled entering the farm and the maze.  There is plenty of space with approx. 10 acres of outdoor grounds, 2 large outdoor mazes, 3 indoor museums, nature walks including a treasure hunt and fairy tree trail, coffee shop and plenty of farm animals.   It’s a fun day out for all the family so bring a picnic and enjoy this pretty countryside farm in relaxation and safety.

(All visitors are advised to wear masks and gloves as per govt guidelines, use hand sanitiser, adhere to social distancing guidelines and follow protocols onsite which will be clearly marked at each amenity.  Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.  Disposable gloves and hand sanitiser will be available as necessary and there will be some masks for sale in the new coffee shop, if required).

The coffee shop will have takeaway sandwiches, snacks and cakes as well as great organic coffees and undercover outdoor seating is available with ample space for social distancing.

Picnics are always welcome as they have many picnic tables outside with loads of space for socially distanced family picnics but please take all rubbish home with you.

Greenan Maze are part of the Leave No Trace campaign and try to  encourage the “7 R’s of Zero Waste Living” which asks everyone to first “Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rehome, Replant, Rot” before even considering using the Rubbish Bin.  The Wheeler family also strive to help all their visitors appreciate nature and the outdoors and urge the public to check out and The All Ireland Pollinator Plan 2015-2020.

As most of the farms amenities are outdoors, Greenan Maze is a perfect day out for all the family while respecting social distancing guidelines.
