HSE Launches Life Saving Innovative 24/7 Text Service|50808

New text service,  first of its kind for Ireland.

New service will provide everything from a calming chat to immediate support.

Support for people going through a mental health or emotional crisis.

Crisis Volunteers are available for 24/7 anonymous text conversations.

Aim is to provide immediate support in the short term.

And to connect people to resources that will help them in the future.

This is a most welcome new HSE service.

Changing Lives Initiative New App on ADHD for Families

New app has been launched on ADHD to support families.

App helps families to understand what ADHD is.

And provides practical strategies and tools for parents to use with their children.

The App is particularly relevant for parents who have concerns about their children.

But are not sure if their child may have ADHD,

The App is also extremely useful for those working with children.

It helps them understand ADHD and how they might support children.

Children who have issues with inattention,  hyperactivity or impulsivity.

Summer Stars Reading Programme Now at Greystones Library

National reading programme,  completely free and open to all children,  is now on.

Oh My,  It’s 3005 with renowned writer,  Maeve Devoy,  will run next week.

27 July to 31 July 2020,  online webinar.

Maeve will take children on a futuristic journey to 3005.

Exploring worlds and letting their imaginations grow.

La Touche Legacy Festival of History Postponed Until 2021

Festival will now take place 10 and 11 September 2021.

A Launch Lecture will be held in May 2021.

The La Touche Legacy Society thanks all for their support over the years.

Virtual King of Greystones Triathlon:  24 to 26 July 2020

Due to COVID-19,  King of Greystons has gone virtual !!

You can now take part anywhere,  over the course of three days.

Sprint triathlon includes 750 swim,  20 km bike ride,  5 km run.

Duathlon also available for non-swimmers.

Funds raised will go to the Gavin Glynn Foundation.

Wicklow County Council Tidy Towns and Environmental Awards

The national Tidy Towns competition will not be held for 2020.

However,  WCC recognises that much work has been done in the county.

WCC wishes to recognise this hard work !!

Its own WCC Tidy Towns and Environmental Awards will go ahead this year.

Closing date for the competition is 31 July 2020.

Closing date for schools is 4 September 2020.

WCC looks forward to receiving entries and learning what has been happening !!

Greystones Municipal District office hours:

Monday to Friday,  9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm.


Greystones Library is now open,  modified to comply with strict COVID-19 regulations.

Click and Collect services are still available.

Greystones Playground is now open.

Greystones South Beach has lifeguard on duty until the end of August.

Patrols on duty each day,  11 am to 7 pm.

Bray/Greystones Cliff Walk is now open.

Planning Department Public Counter is open to the public by appointment only.

Motor Tax Public Counters remain closed.

Motor tax can be renewed online or by post to Wicklow County Council.

The public is asked to help with water conservation.

Supports for Businesses Impacted by COVID-19

Special help now available for businesses.

Bray Recycling Centre Revised Hours

Bray Recycling Centre is open with revised hours.

          Monday to Friday      10 am to 4 pm

          Saturday                 10 am to 2 pm

Please minimise visits to the centre and wait until you have a larger volume of waste.

Compressing the waste will help to minimise storage.

Please do not approach the staff and put materials into the bins themselves.

Staff will not be able to assist with carrying materials.

Nor take materials directly from the public.

Public entry may be stopped for a few minutes throughout the day to assist cleaning.

These hours will remain in place for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19.

Wicklow County Council|Government’s Restart Grant

Applications now open for direct grant aid to micro and small businesses.

Grant will help them with costs of re-opening and re-employing after COVID-19.

Applications are made through Wicklow County Council.

Established by COVID-19 County Wicklow Community Response Forum.

Forum includes over a dozen agencies and organisations.
