The mining heritage of Glendasan Glendalough and Glenmalure

This website is a record of the rich history of the mining heritage of the three valleys, Glendasan, Glendalough and Glenmalure, Co Wicklow and the people who worked in the mines.

You can browse through photos, memories, stories and historical information related to these beautiful landscapes which have a rich industrial past. This website has been created and managed by a group of volunteers, Glens of Lead, supported by Wicklow County Council  and the National Museum of Ireland. Interested in promoting research into the unique mining and social history of the three valleys we record and present that unique history through a variety of media to engender an interest, pride and understanding of this heritage for both residents and tourists to Co Wicklow.

We’re always interested in new recruits and to hear from those whose ancestors worked in the mines so if you’re interested please contact us https://glensoflead.wicklowheritage.org/. Glens of Lead is a member of the Irish Community Archive Network. We are very interested in making connections with other mining heritage communities across the world.

You can add a comment about anything on the website by clicking on the ‘Add a comment’ link at the bottom of each page. You can also submit your own photos, stories or information to the site by using our contribution form.
