East Coast FM Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning “On Air” This Week

This year’s county wide coffee morning is being held “On Air” due to COVID-19.

This important annual event supports the work of all the local cancer support groups.

These include all the local groups throughout Co. Wicklow plus the Wicklow Hospice.

Help those in your community who are being affected by cancer.

Your donation will stay in the county and give assistance to those who need help.

It is very easy,  just text EAST to 50300 to donate €4.

You could be helping someone you know who is going through a difficult time !!

Whale Theatre is Back on 4 September 2020 !!

We welcome back Greystones’ very own Whale Theatre Greystones.

Details below on the first events after six months COVID-19 closure.

Whale Theatre is now ready to welcome people again !!

Second Act Charter outlines all the COVID-19 safety measures.

Lots of work has gone on behind the scenes.

Rotary Club of Bray and Wicklow County Council Recycling Centres

Seeking used bikes to refurbish and send to schoolchildren in Gambia,  West Africa.

You may leave your bikes at Greystones Municipal District Car Park,  Mill Road.

22 and 29 August 2020 from 9 am to 1 pm.

Bikes will be refurbished by the Irish Prison Service.

“These unwanted bikes will help children in Gambia get an education.

A bike gets a child to school safely,  on time and alert.

Instead of exhausted after what can be a 7 mile walk in the searing heat.

The mothers can also use the bikes to collect water.”

Bikes come from sheds and garages,  schools,  bike shops and garda stations.

Wicklow County Council|Tree Planting Grant

Applications are now being accepted for WCC Tree Planting Grant.

Trees to be planted in public places for native or designated trees.

Grant will cover 75% of the cost of the trees to a maximum of €500.

Trees should be planted in suitable places to allow them to reach full potential.

And to minimise future maintenance issues.

Greystones Municipal District will be consulted to ensure good site selection.

Unfortunately,  DDHS Dahlia Show has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

HSE Launches Life Saving Innovative 24/7 Text Service|50808

New text service,  first of its kind for Ireland.

New service will provide everything from a calming chat to immediate support.

Support for people going through a mental health or emotional crisis.

Crisis Volunteers are available for 24/7 anonymous text conversations.

Aim is to provide immediate support in the short term.

And to connect people to resources that will help them in the future.

This is a most welcome new HSE service.

Pianist Svetlana Rudenko teams up with Belenus Quartet Ireland.

Tim Doyle,  Niamh Ni Lochlainn,  Aoife Ni Bhrain and Matt Rafter.

They will perform Quintet in F Minor by Cesar Franck (1879).

This music leaves no one unmoved.

Tim Doyle has a composed Nocturne for Piano Quintet.

Nocturne is a reflection on disasters of the natural world.
